AFYA™ - Nutritional supplement for HIV and TB patients.

AFYA™ is compressed ready-to-use supplementary food (RUSF) of high nutritional value.

Afya TB & HIV food It is developed to meet the specific nutritional needs of persons with immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV) and/or tuberculosis (TB).

This product is not a medicine as it will not cure the infection, but will in many cases give a better life, increased lifetime and delay the progress of AIDS.

Nutritional qualities

As a compressed food, AFYA™ contains the highest possible ratio of balanced nutrition compared to volume (300kcal per bar) and the high levels of energy is easily digested and utilised.

AFYA™ HIV food is composed of:

A combination of protein sources, which give a high and balanced content of essential amino acids. The high protein content of AFYA™ maintains the increased protein flux in HIV and TB patients.
All essential vitamins and minerals balanced to assure a high nutritional utilisation with special focus on nutritional factors improving the immune defence system.

AFYA™ contains low amounts of anti-nutritional factors due to carefully selected raw materials. This secures the absorption of essential micro-nutrients and reduces the risk of allergic reactions.

Logistical properties

AFYA™ is compressed into tablets of approximately 30g.
Each bar contains two tablets packed in grease proof paper.
Nine bars are vacuum packed in transparent polyamide/ polyethylene foil.

Compact for life guarantees a 36 month shelf life at moderate temperature and humidity (warehouse conditions), with a minor decrease in some vitamins.
