Compact AS was established in Bergen, Norway in 1948 as a manufacturer of various household articles such as jams and marmalades. In 1953 the first compressed dehydrated food rations were developed for the Norwegian civil defense.
This concept has been the core operation since the household activities were sold in 1965. International sales started in 1956 and, as the only company specialised in this field globally, Compact's export sales have grown to a 95 per cent share of the total production.
Compact A/S Denmark was founded in 1992 to strengthen the Group's position in the European Union. In 2009 Compact started producing therapeutic food in India, using local products and labour.
For tmore than 60 years, Compact’s main goal has been to provide high quality products "For Life”.
As a result of our constant investment in research and development, Compact offers unique recipes and packaging that make our products particularly valuable assets both for the humanitarian and maritime sectors.
Our product range includes Emergency food, Therapeutic food for malnutrition treatment, Supplementary food and Seven OceanS® maritime survival food.
Saving life has been the main goal for Compact through generations. Our products are based on this philosophy and have proven themselves to be invaluable for people in distress.
Compact’s for Life business mission is to provide high quality foods with optimised nutritional values and logistics services.
Refugees, malnourished children, victims of wars and natural disasters, and sailors have been given the chance of a new life by eating Compact food.
Our products are available world-wide, mostly through the Compact Group's own sales organisation and preparedness stocks.
Compact For Life controls a unique production technology and has an in-house nutritional and product development know-how as well as extensive co-operation with external expertise in the fields of nutrition and production.
